Get Involved

Registration for the 2008 PGA McGladrey Team Championship is available by visiting http://teamchamp.pgalinks.com. Teams consist of three amateurs who participate in the Local Qualifying Events and are joined by a PGA Professional at the Section and National Championship levels.

ING Spring Conference Features Media Attendees With Cumulative Circulation Of Nearly 4 Million, Plus TV & Radio

LAKE MARY, FL – Companies that register for the 18th Annual ING Spring Conference May 27-31 in Atlantic City, NJ, will be spending time and showing product to contributors to publications with a cumulative circulation of nearly 4 million readers. And that number does not include freelance writers, Internet media, and the numerous TV and radio shows in attendance.

This annual gathering of golf media and companies from all corners of the golf industry is open to anyone in the golf business and media, and is conducted by the non-profit International Network of Golf. Visit www.inggolf.com for more information.

National media like Golfing, Golf Digest, The Golf Channel, Golfweek and possibly others join regional and niche media from around the continent for four days of mixing with company executives, association leaders and their peers.

Among the companies who have registered to take advantage of this opportunity are: Adams Golf, French Lick Resort & Spa, Gel Putters, GolfOrlando, Golfpac Travel, International Amateur Tour, International Pairs, Jack Nicklaus Apparel, Jackets Required, John Daly Wines, Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday, National Hole-In-One, Nike Golf, Oceana Naturals, PGA Golf Exhibitions, PGA Village, Plantation Resort & Spa, Player’s Pass, Powerbilt, Razor Golf, Sunbuster, TaylorMade-adidas Golf, Trion: Z, Visit Wales. And there are still openings for companies that need exposure.

The first opportunity for product exposure comes opening night at the host hotel, the Sheraton at the Atlantic City Convention Center. It is the Opening Night Expo and Orientation. Companies, resorts, destinations and others will exhibit in a casual, tabletop display as attendees stroll the hall, which also features food & beverage stations. Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority sponsors the event.

Next comes the One-On-One Appointment Show, in which exhibitors have over a dozen 15-minute meetings with media members of their choice. That is followed by the ING Demo Lab at the Marriott Seaview Resort, where equipment or training companies display products to be tested by attendees. And for apparel companies, the ING Fashion Show’s runway will shine a spotlight on the new trends.

There are lots of other elements to the four-day event. Education is always a focus at ING conferences. This year it starts with The State Of The Industry panel on Wednesday morning. Panel participants include: Joe Steranka, CEO, PGA of America; Steve Mona, CEO, World Golf Foundation; Mike Hughes, Executive Director, National Golf Course Owners Association. Libba Galloway, Deputy Commissioner of the LPGA; and representatives from the USGA and a major golf equipment manufacturer. Moderator will be Adam Schupak, Senior Writer for Golfweek.

That panel is one of several educational workshops that have been created to help individuals improve their professional skills, increase knowledge of the industry and elevate their companies or careers. Other sessions include:

Small Groups Topics Breakfast, in which experts in various occupations will share secrets of success with their tablemates over breakfast;

Media Roundtable, during which members of the media share opinions and information about various topics affecting today’s media;

Marketing Roundtable, a session during which business executives, marketing professionals and promoters interact about their marketing, advertising and PR challenges in today’s business climate;

Tried, Tested & True, a new session in which several new marketing and promotion ideas will be presented by individuals and dissected by a panel of experts.

Several golf events will be conducted, including the International Pairs World Qualifier at Atlantic City Country Club. A two-player team that wins this 18-hole net points competition will represent ING and the USA in the International Pairs World Finals in Scotland in September, an expenses-paid trip.

Also a Scramble and a skills challenge will be conducted at Marriott’s Seaview Resort & Spa, and the Durland Cup at Blue Herron Pines Golf Club.

At that event, eGolfScore will provide real-time wireless scoring, and National Hole-In-One Association will host a $10,000 hole-in-one contest.

Those interested in attending may do so by visiting www.inggolf.com and clicking on Spring Conference. An electronic registration process is available. For more information on ING, call 407-328-0500, ext. 4.

COMPLETELY REVISED VERSION OF AWARD-WINNING BEST SELLER

MIAMI, FL—Every golfer knows the problem—on the course you run into a rules situation that leaves you and your playing companions unsure how to proceed. You only have a few minutes, if not seconds, to find the correct solution. Well, help has arrived. The completely revised, pocket-sized “Golf Rules Quick Reference 2008-2011” provides instant help in clearing up hazy situations involving the often-confusing Rules of Golf.

The handy, plastic-coated flip guide answers every rules question at a glance, as each rules situation is illustrated.

“The fact is, most golfers, including many tour professionals, don’t have a thorough knowledge of all of the Rules of Golf, other than the basics,” says Yves C. Ton-That, “Golf Rules Quick Reference 2008-2011” author and an international rules official for more than 10 years. “The ‘Golf Rules Quick Reference’ provides quick answers to rules questions thanks to its 170 illustrations and easy-to-understand language instead of dry, legal verbiage nobody understands. Storing ‘Golf Rules Quick Reference’ in your golf bag will enable you to avoid embarrassment and arguments, and will also allow you to take full advantage of the various relief procedures and free drops you weren’t aware of before.”

The user-friendly booklet, written in easy-to-understand English, is organized into eight sections, just as a course is layed out,  among them “Tee,” “Fairway and Rough”, “Bunker,” “Water Hazard” and “Green.” This must-have guide belongs in every golfer’s bag because its numerous relief procedures help save strokes and prevent arguments among players. In fact, the especially innovative overview chart on the last page answers 80 percent of golfers’ questions—without even having to flip open the booklet!

Ton-That spent four years developing the original “Golf Rules Quick Reference Stroke Play Guide.” It’s no wonder it became an instant success and has sold more than 250,000 copies. In 2008 it will be available in more than 20 languages.

Multiple Awards

After being voted the second-best new product at the 2004 PGA Merchandise Show, the world’s largest golf convention, the original “Golf Rules Quick Reference ” has just won another award—the “GOLF EUROPE Product Award” for being the second-best new “Accessories”-category product for the 2008 season at the GOLF EUROPE 2007 trade show.

The original edition has also received other awards, endorsements and favorable reviews by a number of publications, players and organizations, including Golf Digest, PGA Tour Partners, World Golf Hall of Famer Gary Player and Golf Channel. In fact, Golf Digest says the booklet is “the best effort yet to decipher the … Rules of Golf,” while members of PGA Tour Partners magazine give the guide 9 points out of 10.

The new edition

The author has entirely revised and updated “Golf Rules Quick Reference” to include the new rules that take effect on Jan. 1, 2008. The updated “Golf Rules Quick Reference 2008-2011” will be available on January 1, 2008 in bookstores and golf shops, or by going to www.golfrules2008.com.  The 2008 edition’s most important changes include:

–Conforms to the new 2008-2011 Rules of Golf

–48 pages (the original edition had 40)

–More than 170 illustrations (previously 36). Every scenario in the book is illustrated for solutions at a glance

–Includes the rules for both stroke and match play (previously only stroke play)

“We are extremely grateful for the countless rave reviews of our previous books that simplify the Rules of Golf in language all golfers can understand,” Ton-That says. “I am confident the completely updated “Golf Rules Quick Reference 2008-2011” will not only surpass our previous publications in popularity, but also become an indispensable tool in every golfer’s bag.”
