David Leadbetter’s Three Seasonal Locations of David Leadbetter Golf Academy Ready to Reopen

CHAMPIONSGATE, Fla.—David Leadbetter, the world’s foremost golf instructor and coach to countless tour professionals worldwide, announces the 2008 seasonal openings of three David Leadbetter Golf Academy locations.

The three Leadbetter learning facilities—located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Whistler, British Columbia, Canada; and Vail, Colorado—are among the 28 David Leadbetter Golf Academies strategically located in 13 countries worldwide.

“We always look forward to this time of year when we can open our three seasonal David Leadbetter Golf Academy locations,” says Leadbetter. “Our world class facilities and stunning resort locations make these seasonal gems a perfect platform for our Certified Instructors to work with golfers who live in those areas that aren’t conducive to year-round outdoor learning.”

The trio of David Leadbetter Golf Academies all feature state-of-the-art facilities, equipped with computer and video analysis equipment, and expansive practice areas that include practice ranges, short-game areas and massive putting greens.

Detailed highlights of each seasonal David Leadbetter Golf Academy include:

The seasonal David Leadbetter Golf Academy at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort—which will open May 16, 2008—is located 70 miles from Pittsburgh in the Laurel Highlands of Southwestern Pennsylvania.

Inside the impressive Academy building, golfers will discover all the world-class comforts the David Leadbetter Golf Academy and Nemacolin Woodlands Resort are famous for. For instance, four video/hitting bays equipped with the latest camera and computer technology provide an intimate setting for golf-swing analysis. For larger groups, the DLGA’s group video bay, featuring a large projection screen, comfortably seats 21 golfers. The Academy also features an indoor putting green for use in case of inclement weather.

The Academy’s outdoor facilities are highlighted by a massive putting green measuring more than 3,000 square feet, as well as a full short-game area designed to afford golfers numerous opportunities to work on shaving strokes off their games. This specialized pitching/chipping area features greenside bunkers and enough space to work on pitch shots up to 50 yards. For those working on their full swings, the outdoor facilities also feature a pristine practice range measuring more than 3,000 square feet, allowing for drives of up to 280 yards.

Whistler’s seasonal David Leadbetter Golf Academy—Canada’s first and only DLGA—opens May 2, 2008 at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club. DLGA Whistler perfectly complements the stunning mountain surroundings and the world-class resort flanking the Academy grounds.

This is no ordinary golf academy. The Academy building sits high atop a hill overlooking the practice range below and offering breathtaking mountain views in the distance. Golfers might even see skiers attacking the slopes while working on their games at the DLGA.

Inside the Academy building, the fully stocked pro shop features all of David Leadbetter’s latest books, DVDs, training aids and DLGA apparel. Unique to the indoor facilities at Whistler are two custom-built video rooms equipped with the latest golf technology—high-speed cameras, swing analysis software and flat-screen TVs to help identify and diagnose golfers’ swing problems.

Besides the crisp mountain air, the outdoor Whistler Academy facilities feature a dual-level lesson tee to accommodate both individuals and large groups, as well as target greens for practicing shots of varying lengths, and a short-game area that’s perfect for honing chipping, pitching and putting skills.

Vail’s seasonal David Leadbetter Golf Academy is located in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado at Red Sky Golf Club, making it the highest location of the 28 worldwide Academies. DLGA Vail, opening May 26, 2008, provides spectacular mountain views as well as the finest instruction in the Rockies.

DLGA Vail’s mountainside Academy evokes the many log-cabin homes located in the Vail area, blending seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. DLGA Vail’s indoor facilities include a pro shop featuring DLGA apparel from Jos. A. Bank, as well as Leadbetter’s latest books, DVDs and training aids. The Academy is also home to three classrooms, fully equipped with computer and video analysis tools to help the Academy’s certified instructors diagnose golfers’ swings to create personal-improvement plans.

Outdoor facilities boast a spacious practice tee that can comfortably accommodate either private lessons or large corporate events, and a short-game area featuring a stunning 5,000-square-foot putting green surrounded by several bunkers for work on the sand game. Also featured are three short practice holes for sharpening golfers’ pitching and chipping skills.

“Our state-of-the-art golf academies always have been second to none, and our seasonal locations in Pittsburgh, Whistler and Vail are no exception,” Leadbetter said. “These locations feature the DLGA corporate mandate of excellence and consistency in instruction and service. The same proven techniques that we teach to top professionals can be applied to golfers at all levels—from complete beginners to seasoned pros. Whatever your handicap, whatever your age or ability, we have the facilities and instructors to get you playing the best golf of your life.”
